Welcome to Parenthood and Blogging

Welcome to the Breiner family blog!  We have created this for our family and friends to keep them updated with pictures of Jack and significant happenings.

Two weeks ago tomorrow, Tom and I welcomed the biggest "little" blessing of our life.  Jackson was born on Easter.  Hence, we now affectionately call him our Little Rabbit (Jack rabbit).

I have created a list of things I have learned over the past couple of weeks to make long stories short:

  • I Love You to the Moon and Back - From one of my favorite children's book, it is amazing the indescribable love you feel when your child is born.  It is all an incredible experience and the love and support from your family and friends.  From Grammie Cat and Grandpa Ruff who stayed through the day just so that they could literally see Jack for a couple of minutes, Grandparents Breiner who spent a week helping out, and messages of love/support from siblings and friends.
  • While you miss the special bond that you feel of being pregnant and carry a child, it is amazing to regain your body.  I was especially glad to quickly lose the 20 lbs. of water weight that seemed to gather in my legs/ankles over the past month and a half.  Boy, does it now make me feel skinny!  I am reminded of ZZ Topp video "Shes Got Legs."  Now all I need is some ruffled lace bobby socks and pink pumps!
  • You know that you are officially a parent . . . when you are delighted to see that your child wet the bed (a welcome sign after worrying about dehydration) . . . when you can only laugh and smile after getting peed on and cleaning up 3 repetitive sessions of poop that ended up going all over the changing pad. You are humbled by the stuff that ends everywhere.
  • Time is precious make the most of every moment - Especially when life is broken down into 2 hour increments in between feedings in which you must - SLEEP, feed yourself, bath/bath Jack, dress/dress Jack, clean bottles, clean, do laundry, etc.
